Celebrating International Education Week
Winds of Change: Student-Centered Education in the Indian Classroom

Mumbai -- In celebration of International Education Week, United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) is organizing a one-day workshop “Winds of Change: Student-Centered Education in the Indian Classroom” for teachers of secondary school teaching English and Social Sciences on November 14, 2007 at Centrum, Centre 1, MVIRDC, World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai from 10.30am – 5.00pm.
The workshop will discuss workable models in the Indian environment of new teaching paradigms and learning processes, which are beginning to find their place in schools. Hands-on sessions on multiple intelligences, unit planning, cooperative learning among students, educational leadership and presentations on best practices in the U.S. classroom will be covered. The program will be presented by six Indian school teachers who recently returned upon completion of a six-week professional development program Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) in the U.S. and an American school teacher currently in Pune on a Fulbright Teacher Exchange program.

International Education Week (November 12 – 14, 2007) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to celebrate the merits of international education and exchanges.
