American Library Launches Saturday Opening Hours

Free memberships, snacks, and prizes available at August 1 Open House

Mumbai - The American Library, at the American Center, will be open to the public on Saturdays beginning August 1, 2009. The new Library timings will be 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Saturday.

The American Library will host a special celebration on August 1 to launch the Saturday opening hours.  U.S. Consul General Paul Folmsbee will inaugurate the new hours over a cake cutting ceremony at 12:30 pm in the American Library.  The celebration will continue after the cake cutting with an open house and the screening of two classic American films at 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm.  There will be American snacks available as well as an hourly quiz with prizes.  To attend the screenings, please RSVP with Irene Fernandes via phone (22624590, ext: 2202) or email (libref@state.gov). 

As a special offer on August 1, the Library will be offering one year complimentary membership to patrons visiting the library.  The Library will also be launching wireless internet connectivity within the Library and enrolled patrons with laptops can connect to the internet free of cost. Acceptable photo IDs for membership are: passport, driver’s license, voter ID card, government employer issued IDs or college/university issued ID.
