New Delhi Assistant Information Officer traveled extensively in Raipur and Bhilai and delivered lectures on climate change, U.S.-India relations, and higher education opportunities in the United States. The official  spoke about various strategic steps as envisioned by the new Administration under Barack Obama.  He stated that the U.S. and India are actively working on many initiatives, including cooperation on intelligence sharing, combating climate change, and promoting education.  At the lecture on “Climate Change” the official said that the world is facing a dangerous situation which is resulting in droughts, glacier melting, and emission of greenhouse gases which would make the earth uninhabitable for our future generations.  He reiterated various steps that the U.S. has initiated including a commitment of over $60 billion to promote renewable energy. In his lecture on “Higher Education in the U.S.” he mentioned that Indian students form the largest number of foreign students in U.S. colleges and elaborated upon the top colleges and universities and the courses offered by them.
