Consul General Paul Folmsbee and Eve Ensler celebrating the ‘V-Girls’ Movement. Mumbai, November 10, 2009
U.S. Consul General Paul A. Folmsbee hosted a reception in honor of Eve Ensler, noted American playwright, performer, activist and author of ‘the Vagina Monologues’ on Nov.10, 2009 at his residence. She was in Mumbai for the world premiere of her newest play ‘I Am An Emotional Creature’. The play chronicles the struggle of girls all over the world, from culture to culture, to overcome the obstacles, threats, and pressures that rob them of their originality and power. She also proposes to launch the ‘V – Girls’ movement in India in 2010 which aims to give voice to young girls and engage them in working toward their full and complete equality and empowerment. She has devoted her life to stopping violence, envisioning a planet in which women and girls will be free to thrive, rather than merely survive. The event saw a great crowd of people who are equally enthusiastic and support the cause.
