A discussion with author Dilip D’Souza on his latest book - Roadrunner: An Indian Quest in America - was held at the American Center on January 21, 2010. He engaged the audiences in conversation with Naresh Fernandes, editor, Time Out Mumbai and Joseph Campana, teacher of Contemporary Fiction at American School Bombay and Feature Writing and Literary Journalism at St. xaviers College. The book showcases, through stories large and small, America as refracted through the eyes of an Indian who is critical but not intolerant, understanding but not starry-eyed. The author travels American roads, discovering old cultures and new concerns, searching for meaning and nuance in ideas like patriotism and being liberal, in a country’s sense of self.

Dilip D’Souza has written two books ‘Branded by Law’ and ‘The Narmada Dammed’, a monograph of essays on patriotism, and has contributed to several anthologies. His new ‘Roadrunner: An Indian Quest in America’ is his third book. He has won several awards for his writing, including The Statesman Rural Reporting Prize, the Wolfson College (Cambridge University) Press Fellowship, and India's best-known nonfiction award, the Outlook/Picador prize.
