Services for Americans
The American Citizens Services (ACS) Unit provides the following assistance for Americans. Our office is open to the public for routine services from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on all weekdays except for the last Friday of every month and official holidays. If visiting during office hours, you do not require an appointment unless you are filing an application for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad. Please note that we also provide emergency services to U.S. citizens 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Special Note on Visa inquiries from American Citizens In order to focus our resources appropriately on providing the services outlined above, the ACS unit will not assist with information regarding visas. Please do not come to or contact the ACS unit to ask about relatives’ or employees’ visas. For visa information, please visit our visa website. What ACS can do for you
Renew expired or expiring U.S. passports;
Replace lost or stolen passports;
Register births and issue passports for children born in India to U.S. citizens;
Register your presence in order to receive secuirty information;
Notarize or certify copies of documents (except educational credentials);
Provide informational lists of local attorneys, doctors, and accountants;
Provide travel announcements or warnings;
Transfer funds or loans in case of temporary destitution;
Conduct consular visits with incarcerated U.S. citizens and facilitate contact with designated family members;
Assist next-of-kin in death cases;
Facilitate emergency communication to/from family in the U.S.
Provide voting information and federal benefits information, including tax forms and overseas tax information, Selective Service System, and social secuirty programs;

Authorize or pay for medical treatment;
Prepare tax returns or translations;
Issue or authenticate U.S. birth/marriage/death certificates;

Provide security or law enforcement services (including fingerprinting);
Renew or replace driver's licenses;
Collect or forward mail/packages;
Cash checks;
Provide legal advice or intervene in judicial cases;
