The American Library

Book Loan

Members may borrow up to four books at a time for a period of three weeks. If books are not in demand, they may be renewed for an additional three weeks. Renewals may be made in person, by telephone, mail or e-mail by specifying the bar code number of the book, title, due date, and the membership number. Requests for renewals must be received on or before the due date. If the book desired is not on the shelf, a reservation card may be filled out at the Circulation Desk. A notice will be sent by mail/e-mail when the book becomes available. Members may file a maximum of four reservations for books in circulation. Members must return books and other materials to the American Library promptly when due. Failure to do so will result in a fine of Rs.1/- per day, per book. Repeated late return of books may result in denial of borrowing privileges. If your membership card is lost, please report it immediately in the prescribed form. A duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs.25/- after verifying that no titles are still due in the borrower’s name. Books drawn on lost cards will continue to be the responsibility of the borrower in whose name the card was issued. Books written in, underlined, defaced, damaged or lost must be paid for at a rate determined by the American Library. Borrowing privileges will be suspended until payment is received. Members are requested to notify the American Library immediately of any change in address. The American Library reserves the right to restrict admission and to cancel the enrollment of any person who does not comply with the American Library regulations.
