AIRC Mumbai visits Bhopal

On February 24, 2005, AIRC Mumbai, in collaboration with the Department of Law of Barkatullah University in Bhopal, organized a book discussion on John Rawls’ "Justice as Fairness: A Restatement" at the prestigious National Judicial Academy, Bhopal. Prof. N. R. Madhava Menon, Director of the Academy, moderated the discussion. The eight panelists included the Vice Chancellor of Barkatullah University, two former Chief Justices of the Supreme Court of India, two journalists and three academics.

Prior to the book discussion, the student participants had been asked to write an essay on "Justice," and the top four essayists were awarded a certificate of excellence.

On February 24, 2005 U.S. Consulate's Public Affairs Section Deputy Director Anne E. Grimes along with an AIRC staff took a trip to Bhopal for a book discussion to follow-up with Saifia College, the location of a September 2004 book presentation by Mumbai Consul General Angus Simmons.
