Chargé d'Affaires meets with Seeds of Peace Alumni in Mumbai
August 1, 2008
Chargé d'Affaires Steven J. White and Consul General Paul Folmsbee welcomed 12 Indian Seeds of Peace 2008 campers who recently returned from the United States after participating in a three week international camp in Maine. Seeds of Peace is an intensive conflict resolution program for young minds from different regions of conflict. It seeks to shape a future generation of leaders, empowering them with the skills required to advance reconciliation and peaceful coexistence in their respective environments. "The Department of State has been supporting the participation of Indian and Pakistani youth in Seeds of Peace for the last seven years. It is a powerful program that has a life-changing impact on the youth participants as well as their communities, and we are proud to be involved," Chargé d'Affaires Steven J. White said.
The Seeds of Peace event was a highlight of the Chargé's two-day visit to Mumbai. While in the city, he met with a range of business, cultural, government and NGO leaders. In addition to his individual meetings, he visited the Bhau Daji Lad museum and an anti-trafficking NGO. (Photo Gallery)
