On September 30, the strains of jazz music could be heard coming from the Hilton Hotel where the The Oberoi Melting Pot was taking place. A collaborative effort among the Rotary Club of Bombay, the Consular Corps in Mumbai, and the Oberoi Hotel, each participating Consulate showcased its cuisine and culture, all while raising funds for Habitat for Humanity.

To highlight the efforts of Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans, the United States’ booth served regional cuisine from that city; Gumbo Ya Ya, Kicked Up Corn Maque Choux, and Pear and Apple Crisp. As the birthplace of jazz, it was only appropriate that the Consulate General arranged for a jazz band to provide entertainment during the evening.
