Instructions for those who submitted a visa application at the U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai

After your visa interview, if you are found temporarily ineligible for a visa, you will receive a white or yellow Section 221(g) handout with further instructions.

If the interviewing consular officer and the letter you received request further documentation, please note that the Consulate cannot begin processing your application until all of the requested documents have been received by the Consulate.

Document or Passport Submission

If you were issued a yellow 221g handout, please submit requested documents and/or passports via GSS. To locate the VFS center closest to you, please go to www.ustraveldocs.com/in. If you received a yellow letter, you do not need to return to the Consulate in person. You can check your case status online.

If you were issued a white 221g handout, you must return to the Consulate any business day at 9:30 a.m. with the 221g handout, your passport and all requested documents for further processing.
